Peek

At opposite sides of the shelf,
They reached for the same book.
When their eyes met,
Even their souls snuck a peek.

Of Pride And Pumpkin 🎃

Farmer Andrew walked into his home with a puffed chest. "Look Marian, won myself a blue ribbon," he beamed.
"Biggest pumpkin in the whole village," he continued, pointing to the vegetable in his hand cart.
"You should have seen the others, Marian. Wee little things; they were no match for my winner!" He circled the table smirking in delight.
"Now now, Andrew. Pride is never a good thing, honey."
"Pah! You shuda seen their faces Marian, you shouda seen their faces. I'm gonna sleep a happy man tonight."
Marian shook her head, "What would you like for dinner?"
"Why, my prized pumpkin of course! Make us some stew," said Andrew, still smiling.
That night, Andrew devoured his prized pumpkin for supper, unwittingly swallowing his pride.

Of Pages and People

In an old book store
among minds to be fed,
there are pages waiting to be turned
and eyes longing to be read.

Untainted

She prided herself for having an untainted body:
No scars, no tattoos, no blemishes.
If only she knew of her pierced soul.

He Who Counts

Thought, Vision and Perception sat in a bar.
Vision excused himself and went to the washroom leaving behind his wallet.
One of the other two counted the cash inside. Who was it?

Why, it's the thought that counts.

A Little Respect

Little Johnny, Little Paul and Little Respect ran a marathon.

Little Respect won, as a little respect goes a long way.

Irony

She lost pounds hoping to be noticed.

Oh! If irony could be weighed.
